PC-BSD, an excellent alternative.

I’ve been using PC-BSD on one of my testing laptops for a couple of weeks and so far I really have found the experience to be spot on with my expectations. I used to use FreeBSD but only occasionally. I was far too busy with all things Linux. My one major dislike is the use of KDE innstead of GNOME. I used to be a KDE fan since back in the 1.0 days. I have since switched over to GNOME almost exclusively. I do like XFCE as well for slower hardware. I am currently downloading the GNOME 2.22.2 PBI file which is 413 megabytes. So I will give GNOME a shot on PC-BSD and post back what I think. I don’t have WPA2 working as of yet and whenever I close the laptop the display flakes out to like 640×480. However, it is easily fixed with a CTRL+ALT+Backspace to reset the X-Server. Those are about my only complaints thus far. Check it out at http://www.pcbsd.org

Ah, you must be my nemesis.
I am The Geek Biker (http://geekbiker.net/rossz/). I ride a 2006 XL1200C and I’m a professional Linux system administrator (currently at Sony, formerly at Google).
I ran across your site while checking my google ranking for “Geek Biker” (I’m #1!).
I like your layout, though it doesn’t pass validation (http://validator.w3.org – yes, I’m being anal retentive.
I think I’ll pop by from time to time and see what’s up.

Thanks man for checking out my blog. I added your site to my blogroll. I only wish I could make a living with computers and Linux. You’re a lucky guy. But not so lucky to have to live in “The People’s Republik of Kalifornia” for that you have my sympathies.
