I have seen this bike and a friend has one. It truly is a winner IMHO. If I were buying this year it would probably be this bike.

US Rider News announces that its Editors have selected the Harley-Davidson ‘Softail Custom’ as the “Best New Nostalgic Bike of 2007.”

Editor Scott Cochran said that this bike hearkens back to a time when “bikers” were hard core and their rides were hard-tailed. “If there ever was a time in history when motorcyclists were stereotyped by the mainstream media, it was during early years of the Hardtail Customs. A saddlebag full of T&A biker movies made society see the motorcycle rider as something akin to a modern day barbarian. That’s what makes this motorcycle worthy of our 2007 Best Nostalgic Bike because as you ride it, you’ll have lots of fun imagining that you’re the star in such great old movies as: Bikers, Blondes and Blood, Motorcycle Cheerleading Mamas or that classic – Bikers From Hell.”

Cochran added that “The new 2007 Softail Custom recalls the looks of those B-movie bikes of the sixties. Ape hanger handlebars, heavily stepped king-and-queen seats, padded sissy bars and wide forks with 21-inch front wheels all speak volumes to the ‘Easy Rider’ set. But this outlaw comes in armed with Harley’s most modern and powerful standard engine to date – the Twin Cam 96 plus the bona fide easy rider – Harley’s ‘Softail’ chassis.”

Other models receiving nominations for the “Best New Nostalgic Bike of 2007” included: BMW’s R1200-R and Ducati’s Monster S4R
